Importing and Exporting Tips

Chinese motorcycles are popping up in many countries as a lower cost alternative to the Japanese manufacturers. Quality is constantly getting better and some Chinese factories are setting up proper distribution and service networks overseas. It is only a matter of time that nobody will bat an eyelash when they see their neighbor purchase a Chinese made motorcycle. It is still early and I don't think it is too late to get on the band wagon and start importing motorcycles to sell in your city or country. Imagine if you were one of the first to start selling Honda motorcycles back in the days.....

I will start to post some tips on importing and exporting motorcycles so that you can understand what is actually required to do such a thing. At first it may seem intimidating, but there are some agents that can also help you if you want a bit more security. These agents can make sure that you are dealing with reputable manufacturers, check on the packing and delivery, and make sure that you are getting a good price. Agents will also help you with EEC or Dot documentation so that you will have a smooth import entry when your motorcycles arrive. Contracts can vary from manufacturers and you will want to have some support from the factory on spare parts and warranty issues which an experienced agent can negotiate for you on your behalf.

Keep checking back, and I will write some more about my experiences.

Superbike racing in China?

Well, maybe not Superbikes, but the Chinese Motor Sports Association (CMSA) has added a "Superbike Championship" that will have 600cc Supersport bikes racing in a separate championship, apart from their regular series. This will be the first time they hold such a championship, so we'll see how it goes. With two really nice racing circuits; Shanghai International Circuit and Zhuhai International Circuit, China is getting closer to having a real racing series on their hands.

The calendar is as follows:
  • June 8th-10th Zhuhai International Circuit, Zhuhai, Guangdong
  • July 13th-15th Shanghai International Circuit, Shanghai
  • August 24th-26th Beijing Circuit, Beijing
  • Octber 12th-14th Zhuhai International Circuit, Zhuhai, Guangdong

Woodgrain anyone?

This is one of the latest offerings from Zhen motorcycles. It will be available in 150cc, 125cc and 50cc models. I think it is copy of a Vespa model but I'm not 100% sure. The plastic is finished in a woodgrain look so might be nice if you want to stand out in the crowd!

Welcome to my Blog

Welcome to my blog!

I have just started this blog and I will begin posting some interesting information about the motorcycles available in China. I have been a motorcycle fan for over 20 years and I have dabbled in racing as well as importing and exporting motorcycle and motorcycle accessories. I am based in China and have some good contacts in the motorcycle industry here, so I hope I can be of service to anyone interested in Chinese motorcycles.
